On 17 September, the opening ceremony of the International Exchange Exhibition commemorating the 120th anniversary of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) was held on the Great Lawn of the Hujiang Culture Park. President Zhao Zhen, Vice President Cai Yonglian, leaders from the International Promotion Department of the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), heads of relevant USST departments and schools, and representatives of Chinese and international faculty and students attended the ceremony and related activities.

Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of the University, Vice President Cai Yonglian noted that USST traces its heritage to the University of Shanghai, founded in 1906, and the German Medical and Engineering School, founded in 1907. Over the past 120 years, the University's international exchange and cooperation have been guided by the educational philosophy of investigating things to extend knowledge, integrating engineering across the globe, steadily expanding its global partnership network and forging a distinctive path of open education with USST characteristics. This exhibition presents the University's deep-rooted legacy in international education over 120 years and showcases the fruitful outcomes of its open approach in the new era.
During the ceremony, the 2026 USST International Exchange Awards were presented. Vice President Cai Yonglian then joined heads of relevant functional departments, Laura Bishop, Executive Dean of the Sino-British College (SBC), and representatives of international faculty in unveiling the exhibition. Following the ceremony, guests and faculty-student representatives moved to the exhibition area for a tour.
A themed display board, Sino-British Partnership for International Education, was featured on site, introducing the basic profile of SBC. Organised around key milestones in the College's development, it reviewed the 20-year journey since its founding and showcased achievements in talent cultivation, academic research, visits and exchanges, and social reputation. Since its establishment in 2006, SBC has embraced the University's open education philosophy, actively explored innovative approaches to Sino-foreign cooperative education, and forged a distinctive path of high-quality international development.
