On the morning of September 24, a delegation from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) visited the Sino-British College, led by Ceri Bevan, Deputy Head of Global Partnerships and Opportunities of QMUL. The two sides held in-depth discussions on further advancing the implementation of collaborative education programmes, enhancing international collaboration and exploring opportunities to broaden and deepen the cooperation. The meeting was attended by GENG Xiuli,Deputy Director of International Affairs Office, LI Yan, Party Secretary of SBC, CAI Hui, Deputy Party Secretary and Associate Dean of SBC and representatives from relevant SBC departments.

GENG Xiuli provided an overview of USST's educational heritage, scale, and disciplinary strengths. She emphasised that USST has established a multi-tiered network of global partnerships with universities worldwide and engaged in high-quality, substantive collaborations, noting that USST was one of the earliest institutions of higher education in mainland China to set up international joint programmes. She expressed hope that this meeting would serve as a catalyst for achieving new breakthroughs in high quality education at both institutes. With USST's 120th anniversary approaching in 2026, she extended a warm invitation for Queen Mary University of London to join the celebrations and share in this significant milestone.
CAI Hui extended a warm welcome to the delegation and presented on SBC's historical development, distinctive educational features, international accreditations, talent cultivation, and cultural exchange initiatives. She reviewed the progress made since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during USST delegation’s visit to Queen Mary led by President ZHU Xinyuan in May this year. As SBC also approaches its 20th anniversary in 2026, she expressed confidence that high-level collaborative programmes would inject fresh vitality into both institutes.
Ceri Bevan expressed gratitude for the warm reception extended by SBC and highly praised the distinctive international focus of USST and the successful outcomes of SBC's unique one-to-N consortium model. He briefly introduced QMUL's history, disciplinary strengths, and internationalisation strategy. Hoping to build upon the MoU with USST, he suggested actively exploring new avenues for collaboration in areas such as joint programmes, international exchanges and summer school projects, aiming to facilitate a two-way flow of high-quality resources and create a model for international educational partnership.
During the discussion session, Jeffrey Wang, Head of School of Business and Management of SBC provided a detailed presentation on the College's strengths and distinctive educational features. Both parties further explored pathways for international cooperation, engaging in substantive discussions on collaborative education and student exchange programmes, which led to preliminary consensus and laid the groundwork for future collaboration.
The delegation later met with Year 3 and Year 4 Business student representatives in Business Management and Events Management programmes at SBC Tearoom. They introduced Queen Mary's history and distinctive features, while our students shared their experiences and aspirations regarding international exchange projects, interdisciplinary learning, and cultural exchanges.
