On the morning of September 7th, the Fuxing Road campus of USST was brimming with youthful energy. The free entry students of SBC starting in 2025 arrived from across the nation to gather in the beautiful campus. This campus, steeped in history yet global in outlook, will become the fertile ground where they grow and flourish. Here, they will embrace diversity, connect with the world, and step onto a broader stage of life.
Welcoming Atmosphere
LI Yan, Secretary of the Party Committee of SBC, ZHANG Zheng, Vice Dean of SBC, Acting Executive Dean of SBC, CAI Hui, Deputy Party Secretary and Associate Dean of SBC visited the registration site in the teaching building lobby, warmly greeting the Class of 2025 and extending their appreciation to the faculty and student volunteers involved in the 2025 entry. The Executives inquired about the registration progress and listened to the freshers' first impressions. They encouraged everyone to adapt quickly to this new environment, set ambitious goals, cherish their university years, and dedicate themselves to their studies, ensuring they spend a wonderful youth at SBC.

They were stationed at various posts including the registration lobby, dormitories, exhibition boards, exemplifying a spirit of care and support while continuing the tradition of peer guidance. The volunteers expressed that they themselves had received kind help from senior students when they first arrived. Though tiring, they felt honoured by today's volunteer work and hoped their efforts would help the new students feel the warmth of Fuxing Road campus as their new home.

Inside the teaching building lobby, everything proceeded in an orderly manner. The staff and student volunteers worked seamlessly together to guide new students efficiently through the processes, collecting materials, and moving into accommodation. They patiently asked about the students' initial impressions, ensuring that from the moment they stepped onto campus, they felt a sense of home and welcome.
Registration Scene
This year, the century-old Fuxing Road campus gained a unique and delightful distinction with the arrival of three pairs of twins from the Class of 2025. Hailing from different regions, they shared a common aspiration for international education and now walk hand-in-hand into SBC to begin the next chapter of their lives.
Among them were Zhang Kexin and Zhang Kekou, in Business Management for the Class of 2025. After settling into their dormitory, they thoughtfully wrote down their reflections in the notebook SBC provided for freshers. They shared: Holding onto our anticipation throughout the entire summer, we finally welcomed the start of the semester in the golden month of September. We chose SBC-USST together because it offers us a better platform to achieve our dreams and become the best versions of ourselves. Additionally, the courses taught in entire English encourage us to step out of our comfort zone from traditional instruction and allows us to make more friends from around the world. Standing at this brand new starting point, we hope to grow into individuals with innovative thinking and independent capabilities, to make the four years worthy of our youth and true to ourselves, and to step into a broader world.

SBC meticulously arranged a series of displays, along with diverseinteractive games and picture-taking spots, showcasing USST's profound heritage and spirit, also incorporating SBC’s three overarching themes, namely Responsible Leadership, Enterprise and Innovation, and Cultural Empathy. These attracted many new students and their parents to experience and take photos.
New students poured red, blue, and white sand into a large frame; the layered and interwoven grains ultimately forming a unique, colourful painting representing the Class of 2025, with each individual's hopes and aspirations for college life.
The Puzzle Wall on the other side held equally significant meaning. Students wrote their names, hometowns, and expectations on puzzle pieces, collectively assembling the warm picture: Hello 2025, New Students! This puzzle symbolises how students from all corners of the country converge here, together forming the warm SBC community and embarking on a new chapter in their lives.
Photo-taking spots in the Teaching Building
To strengthen home-university collaboration, unite educational efforts, and jointly promote the development of students, the university held a parents' meeting for the free-entry student starting in 2025 in the auditorium on the afternoon.
ZHANG Zheng, Vice Dean of SBC, Acting Executive Dean of SBC, systematically introduced the overall situation of USST and SBC to the parents, covering the history, development, and social reputation. He elaborated on SBC's distinctive characteristics, organisational structure, teaching faculty, and talent development model, highlighting significant achievements in education and teaching, programme construction, international accreditations, scientific research and innovation, as well as student progression and employment. Detailed explanations were also provided on academic requirements, attendance policies, and student support services—topics of particular interest to parents. ZHANG Zheng noted that 2026 will mark USST's 120th anniversary and SBC's 20th anniversary. Every new student is fresh blood for the College's development, and the entire cohort and their parents are witnesses and companions on this significant historical journey.
GAO Jiaqi, Head of the Student Management Department and the Director of the Student Affairs Office, subsequently provided detailed introductions regarding student management, campus life, and the team of freshman tutors. Following the meeting, the tutor team engaged in in-depth conversations with parents, offering detailed answers to various questions in a lively atmosphere.
New Students' Parents Meeting
From today onward, the academic journey for the SBC free entry new students officially begins. May every student firm up their ideals in this new environment, proceed steadfastly, and chase their dreams courageously. May they temper themselves into better individuals on this academic soil rich with heritage, diverse cultures, and an innovative spirit.
