Youth is like a summer morn. On 25th July, the Sino-British College held the Graduation and Degree Awarding Ceremonies for 2024 graduates. Dr CAI Yonglian, Vice President of USST, Dean of SBC, Professor Robert Anthony Cryan, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, Professor Laura Bishop, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University, Professor Chris Wigginton, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University, Professor Rupert Ward, Executive Dean of SBC, LI Yan, Party Secretary of SBC, Professor SHAN Yanguang, Vice Dean of SBC, Dr CAI Hui, Deputy Party Secretary and Associate Dean of SBC attended the Ceremonies. The leadership and programme leaders of the UK partner universities, School of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering of USST, School of Mechanical Engineering of USST, representatives of SBC lecturers, graduates and their families and friends joined in the celebration of this special moment. Dr CAI Hui emceed the ceremonies.
Before the ceremony, a video clip was played to review the lives of the class of 2024, from the early autumn four years ago to the graduation ceremony of this summer. The familiar scenes and heart-warming moments depicted the unforgettable growth and good memories here at SBC. Their lecturers also sent their congratulations and blessings to the graduates who were about to embark on a new journey in life.
The Graduation and Degree Awarding Ceremonies
Dr CAI Yonglian sent her sincere congratulations and best wishes to all the 2024 graduates who had successfully completed their undergraduate studies and her deep respect to the lecturers and parents who had always supported and accompanied the students' growth. She said that during the four years, each graduate is a witness to SBC’s great success in high-level international education, with the College's overarching themes, namely Responsible Leadership, Enterprise and Innovation, Cultural Empathy. SBC and all the graduates have worked together and grow together, becoming witnesses to every important moment in these four years.
Dr CAI said sincerely to all the graduates:“First, I hope you practice The Unity of Theory and Practice, always strive hard and forge ahead in your life. Secondly, I hope that you will keep abreast of the trend of the times, be open and inclusive in life.Thirdly, I hope that you will continue to broaden your international perspective, every beauty can represent itself with diversity and integrity.”

Professor Robert Anthony Cryan began his speech by offering his congratulations to each and every one graduating today and big gratitude to all the SBC staff and graduates’ families. He said in his speech:“This event is an annual high point in the much-valued partnership between the Sino-British College in Shanghai, and the University of Huddersfield, almost 6,000 miles away in the UK. Despite the distance, our two institutions have forged a productive relationship in almost two decades of cooperation. Our BA (Hons) Events Management degree course here is firmly established, having begun in 2006. And I am sure everything you have learned over the past four years will be invaluable as you embark on careers in this growing industry.”

Professor Robert Anthony Cryan, Vice-Chancellor of University of Huddersfield, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and former President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) present the Best Student on an IET-Accredited Course at SBC-USST Award to GAO Lingyue. GAO Lingyue made their speeches as a graduate representative, telling her college stories and sending their best wishes to all.
