On June 11, 2024, students enrolled at SBC-USST, and summer school exchange program students visited Halma’s APAC Integrated Production and R&D Center in Shanghai. The students and SBC-USST faculty were welcome by Halma’s APAC Communication Director Mr. Matt Lu who gave a historical background of the company. The students were introduced to Halma’s unique autonomous business model and the positive impacts their company addresses. The students were then given a lecture on China’s changing employment trends and how to prepare themselves for the job market by Halma’s Business Enablement Executive and Talent & Culture Director, APAC – Dr. Tom Yu.
The students were also given a tour of the assembly facilities by Halma’s Operations Director Mr. Walker Hu. The tour gave students exposure to Halma’s unique business model of acquiring and growing existing businesses (which currently includes more than 30 businesses in China) within its three portfolio ranges – safety, healthcare, and the environment.
The factory tour also exposed the summer school exchange students to Halma’s confidence in investment and collaboration in the Asia Pacific Region. SBC-USST and Halma plan to explore avenues of mutual support through student internships, practical research, and industry lectures.
