On June 5, 2024, students enrolled on SBC-USST’s summer school exchange program visited JCB’s office, factory, and testing facilities. The students (who are enrolled in undergraduate studies at SBC-USST’s UK partner universities) and SBC-USST faculty were welcome by JCB’s Managing Director, Ms. Bei Zhang, and were also given an industry lecture on JCB’s history, innovations, and market presence as a land automotive machine company. The lecture also discussed JCBs strategy towards innovating sustainable and environmentally friendly products, with their ongoing development and focus on hydrogen fueled automotive machines.
The factory tour also exposed UK undergraduate students to the importance of strong trade relations, commerce and exchange between UK and China. SBC-USSST and JCB plan to explore avenues of mutual support through student internships, practical research, and industry lectures.
