The Sino-British College of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology received recognition from the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL). This is to certify that the module of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) SBC has been delivering are validated and reach international high standard in course contents, talent development, pedagogy, quality assurance system.
Sino-British College awarded CIOL Validated Programme for EAP module
The Chartered Institute of Linguists is the UK's Royal Charter body for language practitioners. It aims to provide language qualifications and membership for linguists and enhance the recognition for higher education institutes. The Sino-British College embarked on improving its EAP module aligned with the professional level of CIOL in June 2022 and finally awarded at the end of April 2023.
The CIOL carried out a comprehensive review and highly praised the programmes delivered by SBC lecturers according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). CIOL Qualifications (CIOLQ) serves language professionals by providing the benchmark qualifications for translators and interpreters which are recognised widely in the UK and around the world, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore. CIOLQ DipTrans holders are tested rigorously and proved skilled in language for further studies and in marketplace.

The CIOL Accreditation is a remarkable achievement SBC has made of academic programmes, after the IET Accreditation awarded in March 2022. So far, SBC is recognised in all the academic schools, AACSB Membership by School of Business and Management, IET Accreditation by School of Engineering and Computing and CIOL Accreditation by School of Languages, Education and Cultures.
SBC will continue to build on its strengths in international education, communication and cooperation, further improve language talent development and contribute itself to USST' s construction of being a first-class university of science and engineering with distinctive features.
