SHAN Yanguang, Vice Dean of SBC Attends CACIE 2021: Enhancing Synergies to Promote Quality Development of International Education Exchanges and Cooperation

The Plenary Session of the 2021 China Annual Conference for International Education and Expo (CACIE) was held in Beijing on October 22. With the theme "New Opportunities and Prospects for Building an Open and High-Quality Education System", the session discussed paths to building an open and high-quality education system and drawing a blueprint for the future of international educational collaboration. Chinese Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng attended and addressed the event. President of China Education Association for International Exchange Liu Liming served as moderator for the opening ceremony. Shan Yanguang, Vice Dean of SBC, on behalf of the college, was invited to attend the conference.

Huai Jinpeng stated that Chinese government upheld the people-oriented principle by moving courses online against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring safety and education of students nationwide. In the national fight to end absolute poverty, the dropout rate among underprivileged students was reduced to zero, which helped to cut off the transmission of intergenerational poverty and achieve the poverty alleviation targets set by the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development ten years ahead of schedule.

Huai also said, having secured access to education for all in the country, China was accelerating its building of a high-quality education system that meets people’s expectation, to ensure adequate resources, equal opportunities and outcomes, as well as improved process and efficiency in providing education to everyone.

He called for efforts to: (1) deepen educational cooperation for mutual benefit and win-win results, by increasing communication of educational policies, promoting sharing of resources and reform outcomes, and improving equality and effectiveness in global development; (2) continue innovative practices and transformations, to enhance the integration of schools and industries and strengthen the role of education sector in serving the needs of society; and (3) increase cultural and educational exchanges, by providing more teacher and student exchange programs, to facilitate the development of a community with a shared destiny for mankind.

During the conference, Shan Yanguang, Vice Dean of SBC had an in-depth exchange of views with Gao Qiong, Deputy Director of Certification Division 2 of Chiness Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) on how to promote international education of SBC. He also introduced the Symposium on Sino-foreign Cooperation in International Education on the occasion of the 15th Anniversary of SBC. Gao Qiong sent congratulations to the college and looked forward to more success.
