The ceremonial opening of the 10th China Flower Expo was held at the end of May on Chongming Island, Shanghai. From June 18th to 25th, 50 USST volunteers called “Little Egrets” gathered on Chongming Island and served the 10th China Flower Expo in high spirits, industriously and conscientiously.
Smiling Faces to the Expo, Little Egrets to the Sky
USST attached great importance to the organisation of volunteers for the Flower Expo. In February this year, USST started volunteer recruitment and 50 Little Egrets from 12 colleges were successfully selected.
USST prepared delicate badges and volunteer commemorative T-shirts for the “Little Egrets”, which combined the elements of the 10th China Flower Expo with the logo of USST.
On April 29th, USST held a ceremony for volunteers of the 10th China Flower Expo. Sun Yuedong, Deputy Party Secretary of USST, encouraged the volunteers to uphold the spirit of dedication, friendship, mutual assistance and progress at the Flower Expo.
Show Youth and Responsibilities
The “Little Egrets” of USST selflessly dedicated themselves to showing their responsibilities and youth to visitors from all over the world. Their warm smiles, heartfelt greetings and detailed answers formed a beautiful scenery line in the 10th China Flower Expo. The volunteers, all dressed in green, brought freshness and vitality to the Expo.
During this one-week service, USST volunteers received many letters of thanks. The warm-hearted service from “Little Egrets” have not only been praised by the tourists, but also recognised by theShanghai Committee of Chinese Communist Youth League. On June 18th, Shangguan Jian, Deputy Secretary of theShanghai Committee of Chinese Communist Youth League and Chairman of Shanghai Youth Federation, Li Jun, Deputy Secretary of the CCP Chongming District Committee, and Wu Bin, Deputy Secretary of theShanghai Committee of Chinese Communist Youth League and Vice President of the Shanghai Association of Volunteers visited the USST “Little Egrets” in the Flower Expo.
Keep in Mind Missions of Flower Expo and Welcome 100th Anniversary of the founding of CCP
The USST “Little Egrets” participated in the 10th China Flower Expo and the themed activities to celebrate The 100th Anniversary of The Founding of CCP in various forms. They understood the glory of the Party, comprehended the original aspiration and mission of the Party and promoted patriotism. Some “Little Egrets”, as Party members, kept to their posts regardless of bad weather.
Each USST Little Egret is a small cog, but also a future pillar of our country. They served people in the highest spirit and with all their hearts. Their thoughtful services and professional spirit were highly praised by all the visitors and teachers of the Expo. Their outstanding deeds have been reported by Shanghai Channel of the Xinhua News Agency, Youth Shanghai, Xinmin Evening News and many other media outlets.
Our college has always attached great importance to practice and education, and adhered to the unity of theoretical learning, innovative thinking and social practice. Taking these volunteer services as an opportunity, USST has continuously enhanced students' sense of social responsibility to serve the country and the people and their practical ability to solve problems. During the Expo, the USST Little Egret celebrated The 100th Anniversary of the Founding of The Communist Party of China with selfless devotion, outstanding achievements and energetic youth.
