Led by Dr Lun Tong, a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader in our Engineering School, members of SBC’s academic team visited Harsom Front on 17th September, with Dr Jean-Paul Kone, Ping Liu, FAN Yawen, GAN Haixiu, and ZHAO Xiaohuan. Vice-general Manager of Harsom Front, WANG Ying, along with FAN Guoqing, warmly welcomed their SBC visitors.
Located in the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone, Harsom Front engages in industrial robotics, intelligent manufacturing, non-standard automation of production lines, research and development of teaching equipment, internet technology and the internet of things. In the educational setting, Harsom Front mainly provides services including cloud education, curriculum development, intelligent manufacturing, intelligent factory, university-enterprise cooperation and other services for universities.
Guided by relevant staff from Harsom Front, the SBC delegation experienced information platform construction, intelligent manufacturing MES system, industrial robot virtual simulation operating platform training system, etc.
WANG Ying introduced the development of applications to teaching equipment, intelligent education, internet technology, etc. They discussed the development of innovative talent for technology and enterprise development. Both sides hoped that there will be more cooperation and discussion between industry practitioners and academics to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, the development of talent cultivation.
SBC has received approval for the first time in the second Industry-Academic Cooperation of Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, which is a cooperation project involving Harsom Front ‘A new mode of cultivating practical ability of talents in the field of Sino-foreign cooperation under the background of new engineering’.
