On the afternoon of 24th July, SBC Management Council met in the SBC administration building. USST President DING Xiaodong chaired the meeting.

Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, UK Management Council members attended via video link. The Management Council members are: Vice-President of USST, CAI Yonglian; Vice-President of USST, ZHANG Hua; Director of Finance, DIAO Jiewen; Dean of Undergraduate College and Director of Academic Affairs Office, GAN Yi; Dr Malcolm Butler, Director of Global Engagement of the University of Sheffield; Prof Peter Byers, Pro Vice-Chancellor from Liverpool John Moores University; Prof Jane Owen-Lynch, Pro Vice-Chancellor from the University of Huddersfield; Prof Chris Wigginton, Pro Vice-Chancellor from Sheffield Hallam University; and Prof John Brewer, CEO of NCUK. Professor Laura C. Bishop, Principal of SBC; LI Yan, Party Secretary of SBC, and XU Lin, Associate Dean of Administration of SBC were in attendance.

DING Xiaodong, President of USST warmly welcomed all attendants, and expressed his thanks to the contribution of partners and NCUK. He said, SBC made many progresses since the last meeting on December 6th, 2019. 2020 is a new year that there are increasingly number of cooperation between USST and UK universities. With the joint efforts of both sides of the Sino-British cooperation, the college has achieved new breakthroughs in many aspects, and has given full play to its role as a bridge between China and Britain, enabling USST to have more cooperation with British universities. DING Xiaodong emphasized that Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation between CSCSE and USST is an opportunity to provide wider platform and accelerate internationalization for USST. He hopes that the both side can give full play to advantages of themselves for further development and cooperation of USST and UK partners.
In the meeting, Laura Bishop, Principal of SBC reported the work and progress of each project in SBC, and discussed the next five-year plan, cooperation project, teaching team, talent cultivation, students’ enrolment and employment, school enterprise cooperation and industry-academy cooperation, etc. The members of Management Council Meeting gave their recognition for SBC’s achievement, the measures during disease prevention, students’ recruitment, employment and also gave their thanks to support from leaders of USST and SBC.
The meeting’s success means a more specific target in SBC with confidence andmorale. Taking this chance, SBC will contribute more on high-level university and college with student-centred mode, connotative development, and comprehensive reform.
