On June 23rd, Professor Laura Bishop, Principal of SBC and Professor LIU Qin, Vice-Dean of SBC visited one of our local schools, Shanghai Chuneng Middle School and met SU Haojiong, Headmaster of Shanghai Chuneng Middle School.
SU Haojiong warmly welcomed the SBC visitors to the school.He introduced Shanghai Chuneng Middle School’s history, development, teaching team, teaching models, its future plans, etc. He said that he felt grateful for the support and help from USST over the years, and he hoped for more cooperation around teaching team building, student recruitment and talent cultivation.
Professor LIU Qin illustrated the connection with Shanghai Chuneng Middle School with the example of YE Zi, a former student of Shanghai Chuneng Middle School and SBC, who gained a bachelor’s degree from University of Leeds through our 2+2 model of collaboration and then went on to postgraduate studies at the University of Hong Kong. This news gave SU Haojiong confidence about the importance of links to SBC. Professor LIU Qin outlined SBC’s long educational history, introduced SBC’s education mission, its talent cultivation and recruitment approaches..
The group discussed interaction with student teachers from China and overseas, talent cultivation, student recruitment and teaching resource development; they looked forward to more cooperation between SBC and Shanghai Chuneng Middle School. Finally, Professor Laura Bishop and Professor LIU Qin thanked SU Haojiong for his hospitality, and expressed their best wishes to Shanghai Chuneng Middle School.
