On the morning of June 19th, the 2020 Graduation Ceremony for USST was held in the auditorium at the Jungong Road Campus. Some graduands who couldn’t attend due to COVID-19 watched the live-streaming of the event, and the event was streamed to other venues around the campus.
The officials for the event from USST were: WU Jianyong, Party Secretary of USST; DING Xiaodong, President of USST; GU Min, Executive Chairman of USST Council; LIU Daoping, Deputy Secretary of USST; GU Chunhua, Deputy Secretary of USST; SUN Yaodong, Deputy Secretary of USST; CHEN Bin, Vice President; CAI Yonglian, Vice President of USST; LIU Ping, Vice President of USST; Accountant ZHAO Ming; and Vice President ZHANG Hua. SBC was represented by Professor Laura Bishop, Principal of SBC; LI Yan, Party Secretary of SBC, Deputy Director of Campus Management Committee, Fuxing Road Campus; Professor LIU Qin, Vice-Dean of SBC and other colleagues at the graduation ceremony. The graduation was formally hosted by SHENG Chun, Deputy Secretary and Vice President of USST.
A video preceded the ceremony “Sing of USST, 2020 Graduation Memory”, which represented the first time graduates of USST could show their new found confidence.
The formal graduation ceremony opened with the Chinese national anthem. Vice President LIU Ping and Vice President ZHANG Hua read out the Decisions on The Commendation of Outstanding Graduate Students of USST. 14 graduates, including SHI Zhijian from SBC, were awarded ‘outstanding undergraduate students’ from USST. While GAO Xin and 6 other students were awarded ‘outstanding undergraduate students’ of Shanghai.
The 2020 graduates stand on the platform and received their graduation certificates, an unforgettable moment, and the start of a new stage in their lives.
President DING Xiaodong gave a speech to inspire the young generation. He told them, firstly, everyone should fight for their dream when meeting difficulties even challenges like COVID-19; secondly, opportunities are ready for people who prepare and they must seize their opportunities to find a new revolution; thirdly, age of intelligence is coming. President DING hopes that all USST graduates will actively find new careers and meet the requirements for their new careers.
The graduation ceremony finished with the USST song. Afterwards the graduates took pictures with the USST leadership. The Vice President (International) of USST, and Dean of SBC, CAI Yonglian was pictured with many graduates as well, as she always caresabout our students’ and graduates’ futures.

And GAO Xin, a graduate of Events Management and recommended for admission to Shanghai University for a master's degree said, “It is the most special graduation ceremony, many thanks to our university and for the best four years! Hopefully we will see our university go on to be better and better!”
