On the afternoon of April 23rd, Progress in Medical Engineering Interdisciplinary Collaboration Meeting was held by Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (SJTUSM) and University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) in SBC Tea Room. CHEN Guoqiang, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Dean of SJTUSM, was invited to discuss and exchange ideas, accompanied by WU Tao, Wu Tao, Deputy Secretary of CPC and Vice President of SJTUSM, CAI Wei, Head of Dean’s Office, Ding Jianqing, Director of Science and Technology Developing Office, DONG Yan, Executive Vice-Dean of SJTUSM, ZHANG Xin, Head of School Property Center, KANG Li, Deputy Head of Dean’s Office, and other leaders.
DING Xiaodong, President of USST, LIU Ping, Vice President of USST were cordially welcomed Academician CHEN and representatives of SJTUSM. Directors of the President’s Office, Science and Technology Developing Institute, Graduate School, Interdisciplinary Innovation Institute, and School of Medical Instrument and Food Engineering, USST, attended the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Academician CHEN was shown around SBC Library, Learning Resource Center, Alumni Family and other buildings.
President Ding made the description of the Fuxing Campus and opening-up work of scholastic education, from aspects of historical evolution of USST, history of Chinese-Foreign cooperative education and international cooperation and exchange. He expressed that educational internationalization is one of the most important school-running characteristics of USST. Moreover, he highlighted that only a few universities in China possess two Chinese-Foreign cooperatively-run schools, and the establishments of Sino-British College and Sino-German College, with authorizations of Ministry of Education, make USST become one of them.
President Ding also laid emphasis on the advantages of SBC in advantageous location, protected historical buildings and the innovative Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run school to adopt one to N Consortium Model. He illustrated that due to these advantages, SBC is capable of integrating global high-quality educational resources and practice, constructing a platform for international academic and educational exchange, and cultivating batches of competitive talents with international vision and innovative competence.
LI Yan, Party Secretary of SBC, LIU Qin, Vice-Dean of SBC, and XU Lin, Associate Dean of Administration of SBC, reported the achievements of SBC in campus infrastructure, intercultural communication, discipline construction, teaching staff, talents cultivation, enterprise and innovation, enrollment and employment and other areas.
Academician CHEN spoke highly of the charming campus scenery and strong cultural atmosphere, and expressed appreciation for the attainments of SBC in cultivation concept, educational achievements, construction of campus culture and other areas.
