“Everyone is fighting the virus, in their own way; when the novel coronavirus spreads. I would like to express my respect to the heroes leading in the forefront, through music.” On March 2nd, WU Junwen, a Year3 student studying BA Events Management at SBC, finished a new song called ‘WINTER’ with the theme of anti-coronavirus.

WU Junwen: Moved with reflection when the disease happened

Junwen said, “I decided to create this song due to my great interest in music. Hopefully, it can bring confidence and rational thinking to people so that they are able to protect themselves, their family, the cities and whole country.

Using the male voice with a rock and roll style is the way to express my art. The mixed-music from drum, guitar, bass, piano, etc. shows the strong determination to beat the disease, and reflects on our changed life-style.”

“Diffuse is the gloom with colourlessness.

Each person’s own diary in the corner,

Each life has suffered from his own nightmare, a barrier to life.

A beam of faith gathers in the dark and dissipates.

People shiver in unknown fear, leapfrogging while wearing a tabard.

It’s in this winter that we guard the clarion call, change the image of light love, and guard each other for micro reality.

It is in this winter that the frontiers of our people's burdens, deconstruction and reproduction, and reshape the habitat…”

Junwen also told us “There is too much difficulty in this winter, but we are still full of bright hope due to the heroes fighting at the forefront. We expect the moment with fresh air without mask.”

As well as ‘WINTER’, there is another Chinese-style song called Yellow Crane Tower from WU Junwen, which she uploaded on the NetEase music cloud which was highly appreciated.

“The night is later, the frost is heavier, the Yellow Crane Tower is still bright... Your love is expecting, silently looking forward to your home.”WU Junwen’s singing brings light to antiviral work. She wants to let the medical staff know that although we never met, to please be safe. Spring brings warmth, and hope is coming, she says.

Junwen thinks that “art is from life. It is a true feeling of life, the basis and source of creation.”WU Junwen's song explains that We are all in the battlefield. We hope that every lyric and every melody can give courage to beat the virus.

No winter lasts forever, every spring is sure to follow. Love knows no boundaries, let music transmit it.
