The 2019 Campus Open Day was held on 16th June. Nearly 500 students, parents and representatives from high schools and enterprises with ties to SBC visited the campus and took in the top, international academic classes and diverse campus culture. Professor Linda Liu gave students and their parents a full picture of the college development scale, characteristics and student achievements.

Following the welcome ceremony, the lectures on international education offered by Professor Laura Bishop, were a highlight of Open Day this year. As a typical “New Yorker” who graduated from Yale University, she explored the value of international education and the uniqueness of the UK education system by comparing differences between the educational environment in China, the United States and the United Kingdom.

This year’s open day focused on academic topics. SBC designed 16 academic demonstration lectures in different professional fields led by Chinese and foreign teachers, covering three academic schools and four majors of SBC in order to enable students to experience British education directly. The Business Management classes focused on developingbusiness models and conducted in-depth analysis and discussion on current commercial market cases. The Engineering classes allowed the prospective students to experience the engineering world and the Academic English (EAP) classes showed how practical skills for English learning in listening, speaking, reading and writing are developed.

Five SBC student representatives gave speeches on their studies and entrepreneurship experiences to the audiences in students’ sharing lectures, including Zhu Chenlei (BM Year 2), Zhou Yinqi (IECE Year 1), Lin Dian (BM Year 4), Tang Hongyao and Chen Junwei (both MSE Year 4)students.

During the opening day, SBC also set up booths for operational divisionsstudent supportand student societies to answer the  questions from students and discuss life issues with parents, and to show the experiences and excellent achievements of SBC student societies.

The finale of the Open Day was the SBC International Alumni Football Tournament 2019. Li Yan, Party Secretary of SBC, Deputy Director of Campus Management Committee, Fuxing Road Campus, gave a welcome speech on behalf of the college. The players were divided into a super awesome senior team and a super awesome junior team. The super awesome senior team won the match. A best MVP player was awarded from the super awesome junior team.

Successful open days are impossible without the efforts of the administrative staff and volunteers. One parent expressed the view that he had acquired a more rounded picture of British educational resources, teaching features and the advantages of studying at SBC through all the interactive events, academic and cultural experience activities.
