The Culture of Chinese Medicine Acupuncture Enters SBC

On May 7, Professor Shen Weidong, Director of Acupuncture and Anesthesia Research Institute, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, was invited to give a health lecture entitled “Inheritance and Development of Shanghai Acupuncture and Moxibustion Characteristics” in SBC Tearoom. Professor Shen briefly introduced the historical origin and characteristic inheritance of acupuncture. He also shared some new ways of health preservation for modern life. The lecture was jointly organized by the HR & Compliance Department and Career Service and Development Centre of SBC.

Professor Shen first introduced the historical changes and inheritance of ancient Chinese medicine by Chinese historical allusions. He focused on the historical inheritance of acupuncture and moxibustion in China and its influence on the international community development through the export of traditional Chinese medicine culture. He also introduced the specific contents of Shanghai Acupuncture Culture from the aspects of development history, classical medical works, combination of acupuncture and medicine and medical innovation.

Professor Shen also introduced the promotion and rapid development of Traditional Chinese Medicine Schools (TCM) in the world. He said that TCM embodies the philosophical wisdom of the Chinese nation and the practical experience of health preservation for thousands of years. The development of TCM schools is also very beneficial to the inheritance and development of the TCM acupuncture culture.

In the interactive part, Professor Shen shared some health knowledge for modern life. He said that people are paying more and more attention to their health status with the improvement of living conditions. They can understand some health care methods of traditional Chinese medicine, such as moxibustion and cupping, which can warm and dredge meridians to regulate the body's immune system.
