SBC was delighted to welcome a visit by Mr John Edwards, British Consul-General in Shanghai, on 11th December. He was met by Professor WU Song, Chancellor of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST), and the council and executive team of SBC.
During a meeting between the Consul-General and senior staff from SBC. Professor Laura Bishop, Principal of SBC, extended a warm welcome to Mr John Edwards on behalf of the college.
Professor WU Song first gave an introduction on the history and background of USST. He then expounded on the development of scientific research and of high-level universities in China, before underlining the support by USST for SBC in every aspect.
Following the introduction, in-depth discussions were held on student exchange programmes, development through the international alumni association and through Chinese-foreign cooperation in teaching and learning.
Professor Laura Bishop gave a brief introduction of SBC, including the model of teaching, student achievements and its plan of activities for the future.
After the meeting, Professor LIU Qin, Vice Dean of SBC, invited Mr John Edwards to experience the SBC campus and view the facilities and SBC student societies in innovation and entrepreneurship.
Mr John Edwards gave a high recognition for the achievement made by SBC, in particular by establishing an effective managerial operating mechanism for teaching and administration which fits for the purpose of Sino-foreign JV education. He further agreed that China and UK would explore the potential for further collaboration on international education.
