The T1 Scholarship Programme Was Successfully Held at SBC

The SBC T1 Scholarship Programme was successfully held on 19 August, 2018. 38 T1 students attended the event together with their families and friends.Student mentors from SBC, Members of the T1 academic team and administrative teams from SBC were also invited to join the opening ceremony.

Yang Siqi, 2+2 Events Management student, Top10 T1 scholarship winner in 2017, Minister of the SBC Student Union News Center, hosted the openingceremony.

Secretary of the Joint General Party Branch, Fuxing Campus and Deputy Director of Campus Management Committee, Fuxing Campus, Li Yan gave speech to the new students.

EAP Lecturer, Summer School & Tier 1 Week Program Leader School of Languages Education and Cultures, Didi Xu, She encouraged students to embrace what makes them different during T-Week.

SBC all classes are taught in English, SBC puts great attention to the learning experience of students. In order to make new students adapt to the fully English teaching mode faster and better, they will get the help by SBC student mentors during the process of this T1 Scholarship Programme.

The four SBC student mentors are all from the previous T1 Scholarship Programme, they have diverse internship and project management experiences. They shared practical experiences from different professions to the T1 students at the ceremony.

Gan Lin, 2+2 Industrial Electronics and Control Engineering student and Xie Yiwei, 2+2 business management student, talked about that their changes brought by the T1 Scholarship Programme and the new students will promote critical thinking in such a British teaching environment.

Liu Jingwen, 2+2 Manufacturing Systems Engineering student and You Shengjie,  2+2 business management student, shared the spirit of inheritance of the T1 Scholarship Programme. You Shengjie encouraged the new students to tap their potential and take bold action to a rewarding and meaningful life.

Then, all the T1 students came to the library to start an ice-breaking game under the guidance of academic teachers and student mentors after the opening ceremony. It is different from the traditional class meeting, this game has an interesting decryption process not only tests the logical thinking ability from the students, but also gives them the opportunities to communicate with each other.

John Myers, academic teacher of T1 Programme, said that the purpose of the ice-breaking game is to allow students to integrate into the new groups more quickly through interactive games, improve teamwork and critical thinking skills. The game environment also allows each student to adapt the next one-week of full English courses in advance.
