The first Open Day of this yearwith the theme “Study at SBC” was successfully held in SBC campus on Friday 22nd June and attracted nearly 200 students and parents from all over the world. They were provided with an excellent platform of a multicultural environment to experience the international academic atmosphere and embrace the numerous possibilities of becoming a talent here.
Xu Lin, Associate Dean of Administration, Gordon Callan, Head of the School of Language, Education and Cultures, Tony Ryan, Programme Leader and Senior Lecturer from School of Business and Management, Anne Brady, Senior Lecturer from School of Business and Management, Lily Lin, Director of Domestic Recruitment, Iris Yuan, Director of International Affairs, were present the Welcome Ceremony by invitation.
Denmark student Emil Bengtsson, from Year 2 Events Management, and Zhang Shuyun, Year 4 Business Management, who was awarded with National Scholarship of 2016 to 2017 hosted the Welcome Ceremony.
Xu Lin, Associate Dean of Administration extended a warm welcome to all visiting guests, students and parents and introduced the college prospect, academic major, student achievement and graduation employment with vivid examples. She highlighted that providing students with unique and advanced educational resources is one of the most important factors and that is why SBC has been chosen by outstanding students. Afterward, a video clip named “We are in Shanghai” impressed the visiting guests and showed the unique and advanced educational resources on the basis of the speech given by Mrs. Xu Lin.
In the part of alumni sharing, the international student Emil greeted to the guests with a paragraph of prepared Mandarin and told his story about his entering in to SBC. You Shengjie, the winner of CEO for one month of the Adecco Group shared his opportunities and great challenges since the Tier-1 programme. Xie Yiwei showed her gratitude to SBC for providing such a wonderful platform for learning and activities. Then, two students, Fiona Liu and Keith Shi from School of Engineering and Computing, talked about the process of getting used to campus life and how academic resources at SBC contribute to their study respectively.
Following the Welcome Ceremony, Lin Yan, Director of Domestic Recruitment and Iris Yuan Director of International Affairs conducted the Admission Introduction respectively.
Following the student volunteer, visiting students entered the Demo Seminar, experienced the vivid teaching style from the lecturer in advance.
The booths of the Executive Department, set at the Teaching Building Lobby, attracted amounts of visitors. The parents and students inquired about the training mode of the talents majoring, employment situation and future development of majors. Front of the booth of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Programme, a parent was attracted by the Starry Ink and tried to write with the products under the guidance of the crew. At the same time, student volunteers from three academic schools shared their study and life at SBC with visiting students and parents.
A parent told us that she hoped that her child could perform well at the exam and successfully enter SBC. She was looking forward to her child’s successful future after the coming period of studying in SBC.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the event, the student volunteers devoted themselves to Open Day event, assisting with the participants’ checking-in. These lovely volunteers appeared everywhere in the campus, impressing the visiting guests deeply.
