On 21 February, SBC students were invited to a presentation given by Dr Edward Harcourt, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement) of Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). Held at the SBC English Tearoom, the event was initiated by LJMU for students who are currently studying the LJMU degree programmes in Engineering at SBC, to meet with senior staff and to hear about  the latest developments at the University.  LJMU’s Dr Julia Yi Wang, Regional Manager, International Relations, and Julian Pate, Director of Marketing, also joined the event.

One of the advantages for students studying the UK degree programmes at SBC is that they are offered various opportunities to have direct conversations with senior staff from degree-awarding universities, allowing the students to gain the most up-to-date knowledge of the universities and the degrees they offer. After the welcome speech given by Professor John Wilson, Principal and CEO of SBC, Dr Harcourt gave an introductory talk on the city of Liverpool and the recent developments at LJMU.

Following the presentations, SBC students had an opportunity to meet and talk to the visiting delegates. Topics of the discussions were mainly about their current study at SBC, job prospects and postgraduate opportunities at LJMU. Students on split-degree programmes, who are planning to complete their degree study at LJMU in the UK after two or three years study at SBC, also asked questions about campus facilities, student support and student life in Liverpool.

Professor John Wilson said: “LJMU is one of the most committed degree partner universities of SBC and we are truly grateful for the continuous support the University provides to our students for their academic study and personal development.”
