Recently, as participants of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Ge Siming and Fan Shijia, two SBC Engineering students, won first prize in the motor-glider category in the 2015 China International Aeromodelling Design Challenge hosted in Jiaozhou, Shandong. This year, about 1820 students representing 91 universities in China took part in the competition.

This was the first time that SBC students participated in the competition. Our two students did all their preparation independently during their spare time. Although they fell behind at the first round competition in the motor-glider category, they entered the top-eight with a full-score in the second round and took the top prize in the final.

The competition is hosted by the General Administration of Sports in China, the Ministry of Education and the China International Aeromodelling Design Challenge Committee. It is a national high level aeromodelling competition with technology, education and sport elements. All participants showed their skills in innovative design, model manufacture and model operation. The competition, with Aero Design Competition in America and Air Cargo Challenge in Europe, is regarded among the top three competitions for college-level scientific aeromodelling design in the world.
