On 16th-18th March 2015, a delegation of 20 representatives from SBC’s nine UK partner universities visited SBC. Members of the delegation included senior academics in the areas of Business and Engineering and international officers. During the visit, Year 2 students who are currently studying for a 2+2 split degree at SBC, were offered highly professional counselling service for overseas study in the UK.
Organised by NCUK, the annual university entrance counselling mission aims to provide guidance and advice for SBC students in choosing universities and courses for their future study in the UK. It also helps enhance mutual understanding between the SBC student body and the British partner universities.
About 260 students met with the university representatives and had their enquiries answered in relation to courses and subjects, student life overseas, and career opportunities after graduation. They were also provided with the latest information on the recent developments at the nine partner universities.
In the debriefing session, the university representatives reported that they were impressed with the high level of English language proficiency and communicative skills that SBC students have shown during the counselling process. They were also impressed with the various achievements that SBC has made in past few years, especially in upgrading campus facilities, strengthening academic teaching and internationalising the student body.
Sabrina Yang, Director of Operations at SBC said: “The offering of split-degree programmes at SBC is truly an innovative approach to international education under the unique “1 to N” consortium model at SBC. Our students enjoy a number of options in degree-awarding universities and courses, and this counselling service provided by our British partner universities has assured a smooth transition for students who choose to complete their degree study partly at SBC in Shanghai and partly in the UK.”
