On 3rd December 2013, members of the UK PM’s delegation to China visited the Sino-British College. The delegation was headed by Martin Davidson, CEO of the British Council.
Mr. Davidson was accompanied by Susan Milner, Director Education, British Council China and First Secretary (Education), Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy, Simon Lebus, Group Chief Executive of Cambridge Assessment, and Jack Zhou, Higher Education Manager, Cultural and Education Section of the British Consulate General Shanghai.
On behalf of SBC, Professor Ian Gow OBE, Principal and CEO, extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He gave a brief presentation on the recent development of SBC, in particular the academic and social achievements made by SBC/USST graduates in the last three years. Professor Gow stated that the unique 1+N model has provided a wide range of choices for degrees and pathways for students at SBC, thanks to the continuous support from the nine partner universities in the UK. He also expressed that he was delighted about the news on Huddersfield winning the University of the Year award.
Following Professor Gow’s presentation, Jin Xiaodong, Deputy Director of USST International Office also briefly introduced the British Culture Centre and the International University Park at the USST main campus.
The meeting was also attended by Dr Liu Bin, Party Secretary of the USST Fuxing Campus and Deputy Director of the Fuxing Campus Management Committee, Professor Shirley Ma, Deputy Dean of SBC and Director of the USST International Office, and Sabrina Yang, Director of Operations of SBC.
In response, Mr. Davidson congratulated the SBC team on the success that SBC has achieved so far and expressed a keen interest in helping attract more British students to study in China.
