To enhance industry-academic collaboration and align talent cultivation with the evolving needs of the industrial sector, from 15th March to 27th March, Li Yan, Party Secretary of SBC; Zhang Zheng, Vice Dean of SBC; and Cai Hui, Deputy Party Secretary and Associate Dean of SBC, led separate delegations on visits to Shanghai Electric Power Generation Equipment Co., Ltd. Shanghai Power Station Auxiliary Equipment Plant, Shanghai Electric Marine Crankshaft Co., Ltd., Shanghai MicroPort Medical (Group) Co., Ltd., and Kylinsoft Co., Ltd. Shanghai Branch. The visits focused on exploring mechanisms for joint talent development and placement, with the aim of establishing a new framework for integrating industry and education.

Party Secretary Li Yan, together with representatives from the Resource and Planning Centre, engineering faculty members, and students, visited Shanghai Electric Power Generation Equipment Co., Ltd. Shanghai Power Station Auxiliary Equipment Plant and Shanghai Electric Marine Crankshaft Co., Ltd.

At Shanghai Power Station Auxiliary Equipment Plant, the delegation led by Li Yan toured the production floor, gaining first-hand insight into manufacturing processes and technical workflows. They engaged in discussions with enterprise engineers on technical challenges and process optimisation, exploring ways to translate the College's research strengths into practical solutions for industry.

At Shanghai Electric Marine Crankshaft Co., Ltd., Li Yan met with SBC alumni who have joined the company in recent years. The alumni have grown rapidly into key technical roles, thanks to their solid academic foundations and professional dedication – earning strong recognition from their employer.

Li Yan stated that the College will continue to deepen its strategic partnership with industry leaders such as Shanghai Electric. By strengthening industry-academia-research collaboration and expanding talent development pathways, the College aims to better align education with industrial and innovation chains, supplying more high-calibre, practice-oriented graduates to the sector.

Visit to Shanghai Electric Marine Crankshaft Co., Ltd.

Zhang Zheng, Vice Dean of SBC, visited Shanghai MicroPort Medical (Group) Co., Ltd. The delegation toured the company's exhibition hall and R&D centre, gaining a deeper understanding of MicroPort's development journey, core business areas, technological innovations, and global strategic footprint. During the discussion, MicroPort representatives highlighted the company's initiatives in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, operating internal incubation platforms, and advancing industry-academia-research collaboration. Zhang Zheng shared SBC's efforts in student innovation and entrepreneurship project incubation, as well as its platform for industry-education integration. The two sides exchanged views on building innovation and entrepreneurship platforms, industry incubation models, and pathways for commercialising research outcomes.

Zhang Zheng noted that the College places a strong emphasis on nurturing students' innovative and entrepreneurial capabilities. He expressed the hope for deeper practical collaboration with MicroPort in areas such as resource sharing for innovation initiatives, joint incubation platforms, and collaborative research projects, working together to explore new models for cultivating innovative talent.

Visit to Shanghai MicroPort Medical (Group) Co., Ltd.

On March 27, Cai Hui, Deputy Party Secretary and Associate Dean of SBC, together with the College's Careers service and innovation and entrepreneurship staff, visited Kylinsoft Co., Ltd. Shanghai Branch. The delegation learned about Kylinsoft's development journey, technological breakthroughs, and strategic positioning in the domestic operating systems sector. The company has made significant contributions to foundational software, aligning with national strategic priorities. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on industry-education integration, with a particular focus on inviting industry mentors from Kylinsoft to actively participate in the College's innovation talent development programmes, leveraging the company's technical expertise and practical experience. Additionally, both sides reached preliminary consensus on establishing internship opportunities and enhancing pathways to high-quality employment for students.

Cai Hui stated that the College will build on these visits to more effectively align resources between academia and industry, fully leveraging industry technical strengths alongside the College's distinctive model for cultivating globally-oriented innovative talent. This collaboration aims to comprehensively empower students to achieve high-quality employment outcomes and advance their innovation capabilities.

Visit to Kylinsoft Co., Ltd. Shanghai Branch

This series of visits represents a concrete step in the College's ongoing efforts to deepen industry-academic collaboration. Through on-site research and dialogue, the College has gained a clearer understanding of industry talent needs and strengthened the practical foundation for integrating industry and education. Looking ahead, the College will continue to enhance its engagement with leading enterprises, focusing on innovative collaborative mechanisms, student innovation and entrepreneurship empowerment, and the translation of research outcomes into practical applications – injecting renewed momentum into the development of high-calibre talent with global perspectives, innovative spirit, and strong practical capabilities.
