The representatives from the partner universities provided detailed overviews on various topics, including study pathways, educational systems, programme highlights, scholarship opportunities, career prospects, and cross-cultural adaptation. During the face-to-face sessions, the representatives engaged in in-depth conversations with students, addressing their queries on application procedures, entry requirements, academic planning, and life overseas. These discussions aimed to help students clarify their personal development goals and lay a solid foundation for their future international studies and careers. The event was vibrant and interactive, with SBC students demonstrating strong academic preparedness, self-management skills, and intercultural communication abilities, which was highly commended by the university representatives.

Professor CHU Xiaoli and Professor YIN Shuxing from the University of Sheffield delivered special lectures on progression for Electronic and Electrical Engineering and Business respectively.

Professor Chu Xiaoli introduced the strengths of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, covering its academics, research, postgraduate programmes, and career prospects. She discussed opportunities and challenges for Chinese students in the UK, encouraging them to align their goals with personal interests and sector demand, and to utilise university resources to boost their global employability. She also highlighted engineering’s real-world impact through examples like Boeing and Rolls-Royce, and noted emerging fields such as new energy and wireless communications.

Professor Yin Shuxing outlined Sheffield’s key strengths, location, support services, and campus life, with details on entry requirements and business-related disciplines. She emphasised the tailored academic and career guidance available through Sheffield’s tutorial system. Using JD.com’s founding story as a case, she encouraged students to stay resilient, observe trends, and seize opportunities.
