Event Management (2+2 pathway, enrolled in 2014)
Now studying at the University of Huddersfield
Obtained a Master Offer from University of Edinburgh(UoE) &
University of Durham
Reasons for Recommendation:
Final year student could choose option modules on both dissertation(total 12000 words) or client event management, dissertation is about the analysis based on your event related research; client event is more focus on practice, it would need your application for the event manager role by CV. I chose to managing the client event, this module could be divided into 3 parts, firstly, a 8000 words event based literature review(60%)+10% event delivery+30%event evaluation. For the 8000 words literature review, I recommend this book, named Events feasibility and development : from strategy to operations (2011) to all the students who want to further study and explore in Managing Client Event. It demonstrates how governments and companies create the event portfolio to maximise their investment. It describes the latest in the growing event industry around the world: the creation of event strategies. With a user-friendly learning structure containing bullet points, questions and exercises, and international case studies including the 'Torch Relay' and the 'Opening of the Doha Asian Games', Events Feasibility and Development: From Strategy to Operations looks at issues such as:
* the process of creating a feasibility study
* events forecasting models, asses management and cost/benefit analysis
* event strategies and the development of the event portfolio
* types of events (exhibitions, sports, festivals) and their benefits and returns
* project management tools and process mapping event management.
This book well combined both event module and event practices, it is significant for the event management domains.
