In the morning of 8th June, “Chinese Seals on Campus” meeting was held in SBC. Yu Lijuan, Ni Minjing, Chen Kehong, etc., attended the meeting.
Chinese seals have a long history. Shanghai is a centre of Chinese seal culture, where talented and famous artists live. “Chinese Seals on Campus” project has an important meaning in advocating Chinese tradition and helping students cultivate aesthetic literacy.
The related personnel of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission gave an introduction that the second-stage curriculum reform of Shanghai offers art courses from the angle of humanities education, where emphasis is laid on calligraphy and Chinese Seals as representatives of outstanding Chinese tradition. Various related courses have been set in different stages of Shanghai education.
Improving aesthetics education and humanities quality has been one of the most essential missions of Shanghai comprehensive education reform. In the next stage, more activities including Chinese seals teaching, training for teachers, contests and exhibitions, etc., will be carried out to attract more schools to set up a series of traditional culture curriculums, enabling students to feel the beauty of Chinese tradition and cultivating national sentiments, in order to let the campus in the new era heritage and develop Chinese seal arts.
