31st May, Professor Jennifer Watling, Associate Dean for External Relations and Internationalisation of Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, visited University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, accompanied by Mr. Mike Gibbons, Director of External Relations, and Mr. Keith Miller, Dean of the School of International Science and Engineering. Professor Wu Song, Secretary of the Joint General Party Branch, USST, with the company of Professor Tian Weifeng, Vice President of USST. Related personnel of International Communication Department, the Sino-British College, and Publish School attended the meeting.
Professor Wu Song extended a warm welcome to Professor Jennifer Watling and the delegation and briefly introduced the history of USST and advanced majors. He pointed out that, USST will promote external communication activities and welcome international students from Manchester Metropolitan University to study in China.
Professor Jennifer Watling indicated that, Manchester Metropolitan University and USST have many common things in advanced subjects. They hope to strengthen the collaborative relationship with Chinese Universities, especially USST, to find more possibilities of cooperation. As a comprehensive university, Manchester Metropolitan University is devoted to cultivating talents and emphasizes on international development, which leads to a positive attitude towards oversea student exchange.
In the meeting, two universities reached an initial agreement on the cooperation in courses, two-way teacher visiting and technological research.
