SBC Students Volunteered at the 3rd International Conference on Language Testing and Assessment in Shanghai

The 3rd International Conference on Language Testing and Assessment and the 5th British Council New Directions in English Language Assessment Conference, an event jointly organized by the British Council and the National Educational Examinations Authority, was successfully held on 2nd December 2017 in Shanghai. After rounds of testing, a group of six SBC student volunteers were invited to help at the conference due to their high level of English and experience in events volunteer work. 

It is designed to provide a platform for discussion of “Connecting Assessment with Teaching and Learning” in teaching English, particularly those relating to language testing, teaching performance assessment and the application of artificial intelligence in language testing.Over 500 education professionals from 23 different countries took part in the event and 60  papers and presentations were accepted to be presented at the conference.

Wang HuilingYear 2 Events Management student, said “it is a big challenge for the volunteers to ensure the smooth running of all activities. AlsoIt is a great opportunity for me to be involved in a big international event and gain invaluable work experience.”

Zhang Jiaqi, Year 1 Business Management student, said “I feel so lucky to take part in such a big event as a volunteer. During the eventI have met  people in different backgrounds and countries this is a great opportunity to learn and practise my communication skills.  

By participating as a volunteer in the event, , SBC students’ were able to demonstrate, and enhance, their fluent English  and all-round work-related skills. It was likewise a great opportunity and a great challenge for students to be involved in such a big international event and also to gain invaluable work experience.
