Principal John Wilson spoke at the 3rd World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit

Professor John Wilson, Principal & CEO of The Sino-British College, USST, was invited to attend and speak at the 3rd World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit on 16-18 November 2016.

The Conference opened with a video message from Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and President of China. The opening ceremony keynote speaker was Liu Yunshan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. The moderator for the session was Xu Lin, Minister of Cyberspace Administration of China. Speakers at the opening ceremony included Jack Ma, Founder and Executive Chairman of Alibaba Group, and Xia Baolong, Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee. The subsequent plenary session included speeches from Bob Hawke, former Prime Minister of Australia, Dominique de Villepin, former Prime Minister of France, Robin Lee, President and CEO of Baidu Corporation, Joseph Wakaba Mucheru, Minister of Information, Communications and Technologies, Kenya, and Reid Hoffman, Executive Chairman and Co-founder of Linkedin.

Professor Wilson was invited to speak at one of the Conference parallel sessions, 'Internet + Logistics: Innovation and Practice', organised by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP). His presentation was entitled 'The internet of things, supply chain management and higher education'.

Professor Wilson said: 'It was a privilege to attend such a prestigious and significant conference and to hear first hand the views of political leaders from around the world, particularly the video message from President Xi and the keynote presentation by Liu Yunshan. It was also invaluable to hear the views of business leaders such as Jack Ma. I was extremely grateful for the invitation to attend and also to make a presentation to the session organised by the CFLP, not least because it is the first time a Logistics Forum has been held at the World Internet Conference.'
