On 6th April 2016, sponsored by the Committee of the Youth League, USST, and organised by If Art Troupe of the Sino- British College, the ‘Elegant Art Entering Campus in 2016’ concert was successfully held on the SBC campus. Nearly 400 students and staff took part in the concert, and the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra gave everyone a wonderful performance of Mozart’s Musical World.
On behalf of the College, Professor John Wilson, Principal and CEO of SBC, gave a speech before the concert started. As a part of the 10-year anniversary event, Professor Wilson gave SBC high recognition for the achievements of the past 10 years, and warmly welcomed all the members of the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra.
Mozart’s Musical World concert is a special wind instrument concert. Performed by the wood wind part and the brass part of Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, with the theme of Wolfango Amedeo, the woodwind instruments reprising music showed our audience the charm of the wind chamber music. Divided into two chapters, the concert showed our audiences different styles of Mozart’s music, and led our audience to wander in the world of Mozart's music.
Particularly worth mentioning is that the "Mozart Band World" concert also invited Han Bin, musicologist, assistant librarian of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Associate Professor, to serve as emcee. The principal oboist, head of the clarinet section, lead bassoon and lead French horn introduced the origin of each instrument and the story behind it to our audience.
As a part of the 10th Anniversary celebration of SBC, this Elegant Art Entering Campus concert not only aimed to improve art and cultural activities within campus, but also to better meet the needs of students and teachers with different cultural levels and backgrounds. This is a gift for SBC’s 10th Anniversary.
