On 30th March 2016, Professor Joe Yates, Executive Dean of Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies and Dr Rex Li, Reader in International Relations and Programme Leader of MA International Journalism and MA International News Journalism at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) visited the Sino-British College, USST. The visit aimed to further strengthen the cooperative ties between the two institutions, and provide an opportunity for SBC students and staff to be informed about the latest developments at LJMU.

Professor John Wilson, Principal and CEO of SBC welcomed the visitors on behalf of the College. Following the business meeting, an information session was held at the English Tearoom, which was attended by about nearly 30 students. Professor Yates gave a brief introduction about LJMU, degree programmes available and the city of Liverpool. SBC students were then given the opportunity for discussions on a range of topics while obtaining advice for their academic study. Heads of academic departments at SBC were also invited to join the discussion and share their views and experiences about studying in the UK university system.

Prior to the visit, Principal John Wilson and Professor Linda Liu, Vice-Dean of SBC were invited to attend the Exhibition of the shortlisted paintings for John Moores Painting Prize (China), awarded in 2016 for the fourth time. The event has been well established as a highlight of the visual arts calendar in China and of LJMU’s development internationally. At the event, Dr Edward Harcourt, Pro Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement) of LJMU met with Professor Wilson and Professor Liu and thanked them for their presence at the exhibition and for the continued support for enhancing the cooperation between the two institutions.

Professor John Wilson, Principal and CEO, said: “Liverpool John Moores University is one of our lead partners, which has given enormous support for the development of SBC. We are committed to building even closer collaborative relationships with LJMU and other UK partner universities for the benefit of our students.”
