Sino-British College has joined Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), a global group of 636 universities / business schools worldwide committed to provide a global network for academic institutions to advance corporate sustainability and social responsibility, and an engagement framework for the incorporation of universal values into curricula and research.
Developed in 2007, PRME is the first organised relationship between the United Nations and management-related academic institutions, business schools, and universities. Under the coordination of the UN Global Compact and leading academic institutions, the PRME task force developed a set of six principles which collectively provide a global platform for responsible management education.
The Six Principles of PRME
Purpose: we will educate students to help build an inclusive and sustainable future.
Values: our academic activities will promote global social responsibility.
Method: our educational processes will cultivate responsible leadership.
Research: we will advance understanding of the creation of sustainable social, environmental and economic value.
Partnership: we will work with managers and business corporations to explore how to meet social and environmental challenges
Dialogue: we will engage with stakeholders and promote dialogue on global social responsibility and sustainability.
Being a signatory to PRME has certain obligations, including submitting annually a Sharing Information on Progress (SIP) report, outlining how we have taken forward the six principles in our activities. Becoming a signatory to PRME is consistent with our Vision 2025, in that we wish to engage with international networks in a way which reinforces our strategic positioning and links to the overarching themes for which we wish to be known, i.e. responsible leadership, enterprise and innovation and cultural empathy.
Meanwhile, in order to highlight the responsible leadership, global citizenship and the role of education, and celebrate the 10th Anniversary, a “Responsible leadership, global citizenship and the role of education – what might the last 10 years tell us about the next 10 years?” themed conference will be hold in October 2016 by SBC. More details will be separately circulated. We will also be establishing a group to help take forward our commitment to PRME.
