Themed on “Going Green: Schools, Businesses and Communities”, the 16th China Annual Conference for International Education was held in Beijing on 23rd-25th October, 2015. The conference was hosted by China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), which is China’s nationwide non-profit organization for promoting international educational exchange and cooperation since 1981.
As a leading platform for idea and policy consultation in international education, an International Symposium on Cross-border Education was held at the China National Convention Centre on 24th October. Professor John Wilson, Principal and CEO of SBC was invited to attend and speak at the symposium to share his observations on enhancing talent development in Joint Venture institutions in the context of educational internationalisation.
Having briefly commented on the views and ideas shared by other speakers, Professor Wilson reflected on the current practice at SBC, focusing on developing competitive advantage for staff through differentiation under the unique collaborative model of the College. Professor Wilson said: “I was very pleased to have the opportunity, on behalf of the College, to attend and speak at such an important conference. The uniqueness of our Joint Venture is such that there is huge potential to leverage the power of the network of ten universities – USST and nine in the UK – in developing the talent of staff and students, not only SBC's but also that of all of our partners. It was also extremely useful to hear first hand the talent development initiatives in other JV universities.”
Another key component of the CEAIE Annual Conference this year was the China Education Expo which was participated by a large number of Joint Venture institutions and international organisations from overseas. Led by Vice-Dean Professor Linda Liu, SBC was represented at the exhibition by the marketing team, showcasing the recent outstanding achievements made by our students and alumni.
Professor Liu said: “We are very pleased to take part in the CEAIE annual event. Undoubtedly, this is one of the largest educational events in China. As a leading international university college in Shanghai, SBC has been very well received during the exhibition and more importantly, the College has been highly recognised for its unique model and innovative approach to talent development.”
