Top winners of T1 Scholarship invited for lunch with SBC Principal

September 30th, 2015, Yan Yiyi (Year 1, Business ) and Xiao Hanting (Year 1, Engineering), the final winners of Top Scholarship of T-Week Programme 2015, were invited to join Professor John Wilson, Principal and CEO of SBC, and Gordon Callan, Director of Teaching and Learning for lunch at Baker One.

The SBC T1 Scholarship T-Week Programme was launched this summer to attract potential students with top academic performance and excellent English language skills to study at SBC. The programme is designed to help participants, who are eligible applicants for SBC T1 Scholarship, to learn knowledge and skills which will be of value to their future studies and careers. During the one-week course, students created and delivered an academic, research-based presentation while developing their academic skills in areas such as research, referencing, expressing and providing supporting points in English.

After a comprehensive evaluation process, 35 students were offered places for the T-Week Programme and given the opportunity to experience the student life at SBC for a week in mid-August. Yan Yiyi and Xiao Hanting were the final winners who received the scholarship and the opportunity to have lunch with the Principal.

At the lunch, the two winners shared their experience from the first couple of weeks at SBC with Professor Wilson. They talked about what they gained from the T-Week Programme.
Professor Wilson took great interests in the topics that the two winners had selected for their final presentations during the programme. He also asked about both students’ study plans at the College and gave suggestions and advice regarding these plans. In addition, the two students shared their plans and expectations for their career for the future.
The students expressed that they appreciated the opportunity and enjoyed the time with the Principal. They also hoped that they could make full use of the time at SBC both academically and socially.
