On Sept. 19th and 20th, Andy Ritchie, SBC Assistant Director of Teaching & Learning was invited to give a speech at the 14th China National University Logistics Teaching Research Conference, co-hosted by China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and the Steering Committee of Logistics and Engineering Teaching under the Ministry of Education. Over 400 people attended this conference, including all members of the Steering Committee, Senior Management representatives of universities or colleges of logistics and engineering, leading academics from logistics and engineering, teachers, representatives from industry, enterprises, training institutions and media.

As one of the event’s invited foreign experts, Andy gave a speech entitled “University International Collaboration and Programme Development” which discussed  the strong academic programme developed by SBC together with USST and UK partner universities. He also talked about how collaboration between universities such as PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) can make Universities a real power in shaping the prevailing behaviours and attitudes in society and the business world in particular.

Three sub forums were organized for all the participants to discuss and exchange ideas about, respestively, internationalized research and teaching cooperation, logistics experimental teaching and logistics talents cultivation. The conference played an important role for further reform of logistics education in college, encouraging international communication and cooperation among universities, and promoting the cultivation of practical talents in Chinese colleges and universities to meet the need of the logistics industry.

Andy said, ‘This was a great opportunity for SBC to make further contributions to higher education in China and I was very pleased that the event went so well, pushing forward the reform of college logistics education, promoting international communications among universities and urging Chinese universities and colleges to make renewed efforts to cultivate talents to meet industry needs.”
