At midday on April 7, Grammy Award Winning Music Band Klezmatics visited SBC and shared their musical inspiration with SBC teachers and students. (1)The Klezmatics are a Grammy AwardWinning American klezmer music group based in New York City. The group has achieved fame singing in several languages, most notably through mixing older Yiddish tunes with other types of more contemporary music of different origins. A recent album, Wonder Wheel, melds klezmer music with the lyrics of American folk icon Woody Guthrie. The album won the Grammy Award in the category of Best Contemporary World Music Album.

The Klezmatics were invited to perform on the evening of the same day at USST. They found some  time from their tight schedule and to visit the SBC. This was a great opportunity for SBC staff and students to talk face-to-face with a top international music band, especially for SBC Art Troup.

Mr. Liu Bin, Secretary of Joint General Party Branch, Fuxing Campus, gave a warm welcome to The Klezmatics and showed them around the campus. Afterwards, at a lunch buffet at the SBC English Tearoom, members of the music band discussed classic music, pop music, western and Chinese musical instruments with SBC staff and students about. They also exchanged thoughts on the cultural diferences  between the western world and China. The most exciting part of this visit was the moment that the band sang and played music with students of SBC Art Troup.

Members of The Klezmatics said that it was a short meeting but they were very impressed by SBC students and looked forward to come again. Students from SBC Art Troup expressed that they had learned a lot and made friends through this meeting and hoped to join in more similar events.
