Congratulations to All Year 3 Events Management Students

2014-04-2937

For the past two weeks, Year 3 Events Management students have had a busy and fulfilling time. 15 different live events were successfully held on the SBC campus, which were well received by students, staff and residence living nearby. The major achievement was the great amount of moneys raised for charity through all the events.

This was the second year for the Live Event Festival that was held at springtime in the SBC. This year saw an increase in the number of outdoor activities. For example, there were many events featuring outdoor games and sports, bringing lots of entertainment for SBC campus life. Amusement Paradise was the most impressive one of these. This year was an actual carnival with all kinds of games and sports such as climbing, angry birds, Foosball, street basketball and so on.

Food always is the theme for Year 3 Live Events, which draws great attention from the campus.  There were four events centred on food within the past two weeks. Each one attracted plenty of participants. You could enjoy delicious food around the world and join in the hotdog-eating contest for fun at the SBC Food Festival.  You could also get the opportunity to eat DIY British food at the British Culture Festival. Chinese food was served exclusively at Hunger Dynasty. All kinds of imported food were sold at the International festival.

Tony Ryan, Head of the Events Management Division said: “SBC held its biggest and best ever Live Event Festival.  The Yr3 EVM students really stepped it up with many more outdoor activities and huge food festivals that ranged from Chinese to international.  There was a vampire party, family fun activities, human monopoly and SBC’s first ever fashion show and separate makeover event.”

“Sony and China Unicom once again came through as great sponsors supplying much appreciated equipment.  Also lending kind sponsorship were a plethora of restaurants such as Muse Café and Brothers Kabob.    The events had some outstanding entertainment utilizing professional local DJ’s, local bands and our own SBC cheerleaders and dance team. “

“This year’s proceeds were awarded to four local charities; heartschina.org, Shanghai Charity Foundation, forceforgood.org and Cerecare Shanghai. “

“Next year’s student groups will have a hard time matching the success of this year but with enthusiasm and proper teamwork I am sure it can be accomplished.”
