As one of the most well-established university college delivering international higher education in Shanghai, the Sino-British College was invited to participate in the city’s annual International Education Expo on the 11th – 14th April. During the three day exhibition, nearly 1000 people visited our SBC booth, including many prospective students and parents, who made special arrangements to meet with our staff and students at the event.

Held at the Exhibition Centre in central Shanghai, the annual International Education Expo is organized by the Municipal Education Committee to promote internationalization of local educational institutions. Over 30 universities and colleges, 20 schools and 17 educational bureaus at the district level attended the exhibition.

At this year’s event, in addition to showcasing the unique features and achievements of each institution, exhibitors offered more opportunities for interaction with visitors, such as demo lectures, student live shows and fun games.

In addition to showcasing the unique “1 to N” consortium model in the running of SBC, for the audience to have a deep understanding about the British way of teaching and learning, two Year 4 Engineering students showed their final year projects – a ‘quadcopter’ and a collision-avoidance car, both installed and assembled by the students themselves. A group of Year 3 Events Management students also moved their live event ‘British Culture Festival’ into the booth with interesting displays of traditional dresses and ornaments, classic literature, music and the world-renowned British culture of afternoon-tea.

While student ambassadors shared with the audience their own experience of studying for a UK degree in Shanghai, some of the academic staff also attended the event, meeting potential students and parents and answering queries with regards to the delivery of British degrees at SBC.

Senior officials from the Shanghai Education Commission visited the SBC stand. They were very impressed at the high quality of international degree education offered at the SBC in such a culturally diverse campus. Professor Ian Gow OBE, together with Professor Hu Shougen, President of the USST and Professor Chen Bin, Vice President of USST also met with staff and students and thanked them for the efforts that they made in successfully running the exhibition.
