On behalf of the Chinese partner, Professor Hu Shougen, President of USST and Chairman of the SBC Management Council extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation on. He thanked the continuous support that the University of Salford, as one of SBC’s nine British partner universities, has given for the further development of the joint venture. The two parties also discussed possibilities for expanding the range of collaboration in research, especially in the areas of engineering, advanced manufacturing and media technology.
The University of Salford currently plays a key role in the British government’s MediaCityUK development, which is home to major BBC and ITV departments and many other businesses. USST, with its own Media College and affiliated Printing Institution is also making pioneering strides in the field of digital media technology in addition to its already strong engineering subjects.
Principal Gow commented: “Salford has been an extremely supportive university for SBC, and also has provided excellent support to SBC students on arrival at Salford. For a number of years they have invited an SBC staff member, Andy Ritchie, to help students settle in. I’m also delighted that Salford’s Business School and its technical departments are building research partners with our host university USST in areas of common interest.”
