Oct.17, 2013 marked the First General Meeting of the SBC Student Union, held at the college auditorium to welcome new members this semester, and review achievements accomplished over the past one year.
Prof Ian Gow, SBC Principal and CEO, attended this meeting and delivered the opening speech. He expressed thanks for all the time and efforts made by the Student Union to enrich SBC campus life, and showed his confidence for the bright future of Student Union. Dr Liu Bin, Party Secretary of Fuxing Campus, USST, Prof Shirley Ma, Vice Dean of SBC and Sabrina Yang, Director of Operations of SBC also attended the meeting.
All the participants were educated on the knowledge of structure and mission of Student Union through a well-made video. Mao Yunan, Chairman of Student Union, shared his stories about working in Student Union and thoughts on its development.
The recruitment of Student Union for the new semester has just finished earlier in October. According to current statistics, over 200 students including 5 international students joined the Student Union as new members, showing the general popularity enjoyed by the Student Union in SBC.
Many students and new members of the Student Union expressed that they felt more aware of the “Student Oriented” mission of the Student Union after the meeting, and would kept it in mind theirs and the union’s efforts in trying to make SBC campus life increasingly diversified. One of international students recently enrolled in the Student Union, Anas, from Morocco, expressed his excitement and expectations for working in the Student Union.
