Oct. 31, 2012, Nicola Scoot, Economics and Business teacher at the British International School Shanghai (BISS) led a delegation of colleagues and students on a visit to the SBC. The delegation included over 40 high school students from seven different countries, all studying at the British International School, Shanghai.

At the start of the one-day visit, the delegation received a warm welcome from SBC Principal Professor Ian Gow, who gave an overall introduction about the SBC to students and teachers from the delegation. In addition, professor Gow delivered a lecture on the British Higher Education System to help high students know more about college life in SBC and in the UK.

The delegation also had the chance to experience classroom life in SBC in the form of two demonstration classes delivered by SBC’s academic staff. Andy Ritchie, Assistant Director at the School of Business, put forward an actual business case for students from the delegation to discuss in groups. Dr Raymond Ro, lecturer from the School of Engineering, gave an outline engineering programs at university and college, with special reference to the SBC, stressing the importance of engineering in our daily life.

Following their tour of campus, many students from the delegation mentioned how impressed they were by the learning environment at SBC. Dr Chris Bayley, Director of International Development of SBC, offered sentiments from the college’s end: “We are delighted to welcome BISS students to our Fuxing Road campus and let them know how they can continue to enjoy their British university education right here in the centre of Shanghai. We hope the BISS students enjoyed their visit today, and we look forward to seeing some of them again at SBC as our students.”
