Mao Yinan, a third-year student from the Division of Events Management at SBC, joined a delegation consisting of 8 other USST students Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries in attendance at the 7th International Youth Peace Festival, India. Thousands of young people from over 20 different countries attended the festival in Chandigarh, which ran from September 27 to October 2.

Throughout the festival, youth participants had the opportunity to engage in deep and broad discussion with each other on hugely significant international questions of world peace, anti-discrimination, environmental protection and human rights. Mao Yinan, our SBC representative at the event, joined with the other Chinese students and to perform traditional Chinese dances, music and songs, and to showcase to friends from around the world some of the unique charm of Chinese culture.

Mao Yinan speaking later regarding his experiences in India, mentioned how impressed he was by the fascinating culture, and how the local people were so proud of this culture. Mao also enjoyed a home-stay visit during his time in India. During these days with an Indian family, Mao said, he was able to see for himself the great deal that the internationally minded Indian people knew a about his own China. Mao finally expressed his heartfelt feeling that this festival would be a memory for life – he felt he had learned a great deal in India, and hoped that in the future he and other SBC students would have more opportunities to promote friendly relations between Indian and Chinese friends.
