Senior officials from UK Trade & Investment visit SBC

On 27th September, a delegation of senior officials from the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) visited the Sino-British College. Members of the delegation included Carole Sweeney, Director of Advanced Manufacturing for UKTI, Louise Colwell, Consul, UKTI, British Consulate-General Shanghai, and Paul Calver, UKTI Global Supply Specialist. The delegation were accompanied by Josh Lane, Business Development Manager of the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai. 

UK Trade & Investment works with UK-based businesses to ensure their success in international markets, and encourage the best overseas companies to look to the UK as their global partner of choice. 

Principal of SBC, Professor Ian Gow OBE and other members of the SBC senior management team welcomed the delegation in the SBC Board Room. Professor Gow gave a presentation on university-industry collaboration especially in the key areas relating to advanced manufacturing. In his presentation, Professor Gow also gave an overview of the universities in Shanghai and the strategies that the municipal government is going to adopt for internationalisation of higher education. 

In response, the UKTI officials congratulated the SBC team on the success that SBC has achieved so far and expressed a keen interest in helping to inform the British companies in the region about our students for internship and employment. They also expressed that they looked forward to establishing an even closer tie with SBC/USST for future collaboration in many different areas.
