On June 18th the Sino-British College 2012 Graduation Party was held in the English Tearoom from 17.30 onwards. The party was hosted by two graduands, Zhang Limai from the School of Business & Communication and Zhang Yi from the School of Engineering. Over 100 graduands joined the party to celebrate their forthcoming graduation with academic and administrative staff from SBC.
Professor Gow, Principal and CEO of SBC opened the festivities by making a speech to congratulate the graduands. Following this, a documentary film was shown covering life at SBC that had been made by a group of students. The students had spent over two weeks interviewing graduands, teachers and staff and had captured every corner of campus on film. The film touched the audience, especially as the students said they had made it as a testament of their love for SBC.
The most exciting part of the party was the group dance. Five boys dressed in their finest tuxedos and five girls wore fancy evening gowns. They waltzed together to beautiful music under soft lights. It was a stunning performance, just like watching Kings and Queens on prom night.
Throughout the evening, delicious food and fine wine was served and some lucky guests won fantastic gifts such as a camera, coffee machine and yogurt maker in the Lucky Draw.
The party ended at around 20.00 and the graduands hugged each other goodbye with tears in their eyes. They held hands and didn’t want to let go. Strong friendships have been formed over the past years while studying and living together on campus and it is hard to say goodbye to such great friends. Everyone enjoyed the celebration of the party and will continue to cherish their memories of many great experiences at SBC for many years to come.
The formal Graduation Ceremonies will be held on 21th July for Engineering students and 29th for Events Management students.
