On 7th April 2012, a Family Easter Brunch was held at Mi Tierra, a popular Mexican restaurant in Shanghai. Year 4 Events Management students hosted the event, with the purpose of raising funds for 'Shanghai Roots & Shoots', a charity organisation to help migrant children.
A variety of traditional and tasty Easter foods were served at the event and several fun games such as an Easter Egg Hunt, lucky draw and a magic show were arranged to entertain the guests. About 200 people attended the brunch and everyone enjoyed celebrating Easter Day together.
Over 2000 Yuan was raised for the Shanghai Roots & Shoots 'Kid Strong' programme to help migrant children.
Summer Zhang and her classmates were involved in the preparation of the event and said that they were pleased to take part and make a contribution to a worthwhile charity programme. It was also a great opportunity for them to practice the theories they have learned in class. They would like to thank everyone who attended the event and helped to make it a success.
In the next few days, SBC Year 4 students are holding a series of charity events. On 13th April, the Titanic Commemorative Event will take place in the SBC Tearoom from 8:00am to 9.00pm. All food items available will be similar to those served on the Titanic one hundred years ago. On 18th April, a music concert featuring 'Stand by me' will be held in SBC Teaching Building 701 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Special performances will be given by members of SBC staff and migrant children.
