A delegation of 18 representatives from SBC's nine UK partner universities (academics and international officers) visited SBC on the 14-16th March 2012. This is the annual visit organised by NCUK to deliver professional counselling service for overseas study to Year 2 students who are currently studying for a 2+2 split degree at SBC.

The NCUK university entrance counselling mission aims to provide guidance and advice for SBC students in choosing universities and courses for their future study in the UK. It also helps enhance mutual understanding between the SBC student body and the British partner universities.

During the three-day counselling mission this year, university representatives met with more than 400 SBC students and answered their enquiries in relation to courses and subjects, student life overseas, and career opportunities after graduation. The representatives also shared the latest information on the innovative and career-oriented approach to teaching and learning in their universities.

Students were encouraged to talk to representatives from three to four universities, but most universities attracted over 100 students for counselling.

Sabrina Yang, Director of Operations at SBC said: "We are very pleased with the fact that our students have learnt to take the initiative in thinking and planning ahead for their future study in the UK. Given the great number of options available in terms of universities and courses, the counselling service provided by our British partner universities has assured a smooth transition for students who study their degrees partly at SBC in Shanghai and partly in the UK."

In the debriefing session, the university representatives reported that they were impressed with the high level of English language proficiency and communicative skills that SBC students have shown during the counselling process. They were also impressed with the various achievements that SBC has made in recent years, especially in upgrading campus facilities, strengthening academic teaching and internationalising the student body.
