In addition, for the first time, SHU has offered study placements to five 2+2 Engineering students from SBC this year.

On behalf of the SBC senior management team, Professor Ian Gow OBE, Principal and CEO of SBC, extended a warm welcome to Vice Chancellor Jones and his colleagues. Professor Gow spoke of his appreciation for the support that Sheffield Hallam University has given to SBC and the positive impact this has had on the success of our college. Professor Gow said that an even closer strategic relationship is being built between the two institutions and that this will help to further improve the quality of teaching and student support systems in order to enhance the student learning experience at SBC.

In response, Professor Jones thanked Principal Gow and his team for the great support that SHU has received from SBC over the past five years. He expressed that internationalisation was a key strategy for the development of Sheffield Hallam University and SBC has played an extremely important role in terms of internationalising the whole student body. He also gave assurances that with an increasing number of Chinese students choosing to study in the UK, SHU would make every effort to enhance communications and understanding between the two countries.

Professor Doole and Ms Morse also visited the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology on the 28th October to discuss research collaboration in the area of food security.
