A delegation with seven lecturers and four senior administrators from the Business School of Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) visited SBC on the morning of 13th May. Led by Gudrun Myers, International Co-ordinator, the delegation were warmly welcomed by the executive management team of SBC.

Given the increasing number of Chinese students studying in the UK, the visit was expected to develop senior staff at SHU to better understand Chinese students both academically and socially, and to appreciate the cultural difference between the two countries.

Professor Ian Gow OBE, Principal and CEO and Colin Wanmer, Dean (Years 1 and 2) met with the visitors in the SBC Board Room. Professor Gow expressed how impressive it was to see a partner university send such a large group of academic and administrative staff in order to help manage Chinese students better at SHU.

After a campus tour, the visitors spoke to students who are currently applying to study at SHU next year. They also met with some academic staff in Events Management, Accounting and Finance, and Business Management and exchanged views on a range of topics with regard to better teaching and managing Chinese students.

Following the visit of the delegation, Professor Cliff Alan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) and Professor Alistair Sambell, Dean of Faculty of Arts, Computing, Engineering and Science also visited SBC on the 16th May.

As a result of the discussions, it was agreed that the two institutions would build an even closer relationship for the benefit of students.
